How to actually use this keyword tool

A keyword list without a strategy is just a Word doc full of words. Here's how to turn this database into a real plan for your practice website. Four filters, four moves.

  1. 01

    Start with "easy" difficulty

Drag the difficulty slider down to 10. You'll see roughly 110 keywords most private practices can rank for inside of three to six months. These are your quick wins. Build pages for these first.

  2. 02

    Filter by category

Trying to figure out where to start? Pick a single category: Anxiety, Couples, Trauma, and only chase those keywords. One specialty, one focused service page, ten supporting keywords. That’s the play.

  3. 03

    Sort by CPC, not volume

The volume column tells you how many people search for a term. The CPC column tells you what each click is worth. Sort by CPC descending and you'll see which keywords other therapists are paying the most for on Google Ads, which means those clients are valuable. A high CPC keyword usually points to a client worth $2,000 or more in lifetime value.

  4. 04

Map keywords to pages on your site

Each keyword belongs on a specific page. Anxiety keywords go on a dedicated anxiety page. Couples counseling keywords on the couples page. Trauma and EMDR keywords on their own page. The biggest mistake therapists make is trying to rank one homepage for fifty keywords. Build ten focused pages instead.

Why this list is different from every other therapy keyword list

Most "therapy keyword" lists you'll find online are static blog posts that were probably built by an agency intern in 2020. They have no search volume. No difficulty scores. No way to filter or sort. They lump high-converting "therapist near me" keywords in with informational fluff and give you no way to tell the difference.

Every keyword here has a search volume, a difficulty score, and a cost-per-click, so you can sort and filter instead of guessing. We've stripped out the noise that pollutes most lists: help-seeker questions like "how do I cope with anxiety," clinical-education queries from students, and licensing searches. What's left is the terms a would-be client types when they're ready to book.

What's left is 263 keywords actual therapists can use to figure out what to rank for, what to write about, and where to spend their marketing money. That's it. No fluff. No upsell.
